Tune Tuesday: Culture Club

Perhaps Boy George is growing up, and turning into Man George.

If you've heard the audio from Culture Club's new single, "More Than Silence," you'll barely recognize Boy George's voice. It's much deeper and heavier than what we all know so well from the 1983 releases of both "Karma Chameleon" and "I'll Tumble 4 Ya." Here's a reminder:

Culture Club has broken up and reunited a few times. Formed in 1981 and active until 1986, Culture Club shot to fame but eventually disbanded due to rocky band relationships and Boy George's problematic drug use. A failed reunion was attempted in 1989, with various incarnations sneaking in shows around the world. In the 1990s, Boy George launched his solo career, recording and writing music, hosting a weekly show on a Satellite radio channel, and became a well-established DJ. I for one am a fan of his fabulous image. The makeup! The weird hair! The hats!

Boy George's voice has been noticeably lower throughout his solo career, I'll admit. I'm not pointing out anything y'all may not know already. But now that an official Culture Club album is in the works, I'm super excited to see what's in store! Check out the single's audio:
