Mark Your Calendars: Pins and Needles
Happy Hump Day! I have an event to share with you today! You MUST mark your calendars for this fall fashion show. I will be DJing before and during the runway show, and the event space is really rad. Some of my blogger babe friends may remember the Boo Cat Club from the VIP Blogger Lounge earlier this year. What they won't remember is the basement! The underground area of the venue is where the fashion show will take place, and man oh man it is gonna be super cool! For more information, please read the following press release:
On August 1, 2015 at the Boo Cat Club (812 Union Blvd, St. Louis 63108), competing designers will showcase their collections to fashion-goers and will be judged by a panel of fashion experts. The grand prize package is valued at over $15,000: A $1000 cash prize courtesy of The Fashion Fund and a placement within St. Louis Fashion Week 2015. Guests will vote for the T-Mobile People’s Choice Award via Twitter the night of Pins and Needles.
The six designers showcasing their looks in this year’s competition are Rene Frances, a New Hampshire native, as well as Saint Louis' own Alexis Cook, Isaiah Jenkins, Ryan Moore, Brittany Rader and Barbara Bultman. Headlining the show will be 2014 winner The Pink Elephants.
Hosting Pins and Needles Designer Competition is Gabrielle Kniery. Gabrielle Kniery is a St. Louis native. Her first big break was being the first model from St. Louis, MO to make it onto America’s Next Top Model in 2010.Gabrielle has walked in over 4 seasons of New York Fashion Week for top designers. She has been featured in Vogue Italy and Vogue Portugal. She is currently now working with Xlibris publishing company on a book called on "Unraveling,” a coffee table book, of inspirational poetry she has written over the years collaborating alongside with many top photographers to bring each piece of poetry to life through imagery.
“Pins and Needles supports the creativity, innovation and artistry of new designers by giving them the exposure, experience and tools they need to take their collections from runway to retail,” says Dwight Carter, mastermind behind Brainchild Events, which is puts on Pins and Needles. “Our mission is to elevate the success of our emerging designers - whether just completing their degree, recently graduated or working on their first collection.”
Partnering on this year’s event is Alive Magazine, Boo Cat Club, DJ Jillian, Lucky Buddha, The St. Louis Fashion Fund, KDR Showrooms, The Vital Voice Magazine, Local Ambition, Now 96.3, Whit Productions and the following St. Louis Bloggers: Pretty Awkward, Stilettos on Sunday Morning, geminijunemoon.
Event sponsors include Baby Lock Sewing, T-Mobile, and Reyka Vodka.
VIP Doors open at 6pm, GA at 7pm and the runway comes to life at 8pm.

General Admission is $15 and VIP is $30
VIP includes early admission at 6pm, cocktails and guaranteed seating for show.
Ticket prices at the door will increase to $25 for General Admission and $40 for VIP.
