STL66: Sweets at La Patisserie Chouquette
We get it. Macarons are so totally in. You can't look up sweet or pretty things on Pinterest without them popping up somewhere along the way. And guess what? I'm totally okay with this trend. Not only are they gorgeous creations straight out of pastry heaven, we have a gem in Saint Louis that crafts them with amazing skill and finesse.
La Patisserie Chouquette's owner, Simone Faure, hails from New Orleans and brings her experience as the former executive pastry chef of NOLA's Ritz Carlton to our fair city. Her delightful custom cakes range in shape and sizes from the princess pieces below to amazing chocolate shoe sculptures. Hey Mom and Dad, I'm letting you know now that I want something from this spot for my birthday later this year. Who can say no to a life-size shoe made of chocolate?! Not this gal.
My friend Ciara and I stopped in for Saturday brunch a few weekends ago, and my second time at the Tower Grove location did not disappoint. My café au lait was just what I needed, and the pastries we ordered (pictured above) were delectable charming cuties. Look at that puff's merengue peak!
One of my favorite parts about visiting La Patisserie Chouquette is that it feels like you've stepped into a foreign bakery wonderland. The marble tables, gold and silver accents, and the always happening tea parties on the weekends feel oh-so-Parisian.
